July 8, 2008 — More than a dozen country-related acts — including such major figures as Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss and Jimmy Buffett — have been tabbed by Performing Songwriter magazine in a list of the Indie 100 assembled for the publication’s 15th anniversary.

Mark Knopfler, former leader of Dire Straits and one of the world's most respected guitarists, knows a good player (or singer) when he sees one. He's found more than a few in Nashville over the years, including bassist Glenn Worf (whom Knopfler recruited for his band after seeing him play at Bluebird Cafe), collaborators such as Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings and a host of local pickers.
