The Future of Military Recruiting
The United States military continues to face the seemingly insurmountable task of enlisting recruits. Pentagon officials according to Carter and Flora commented that while some branches of the military met their targets for 2007, there are other branches that failed dismally. An analysis of the current climate in which recruiters must operate, points to an even more futile attempt to gain to prospective recruits. Moskos, a military sociologist, speaking to the Associated Press believes that as the war continues in Iraq and Afghanistan, and as the war against terrorism gains momentum, the future of recruiting will begin to look even dimmer.
